My hands rest very lightly on your body because I am working with the fluids of your body, and they are very sensitive to touch. When you press on the brake pedal in your car, you use a small amount of force into a hydraulic (fluid) system to stop a 3000-lb machine. When you feel for your own arterial pulse at the wrist or neck, you touch lightly or else you will "squash" the signal and not feel the pulse. When I hold your leg or back or head, I only need a very light touch for the fluids to respond and move.
